The Professional Shooting League’s inaugural Lapua Series will begin in 2009 with .22lr bench rest competition. The season will consist of 5 matches across the U.S. with a minimum purse of $5,500 at each match, and the PSL will award $5,000 to the Lapua Series Champion at the conclusion of the 2009 season.
We are extremely excited about bringing together a tournament schedule that will give shooters a chance to become professional as well as an opportunity for businesses to advertise in new and exciting ways.
Each match will consist of 5 targets. The winner of each target will receive $100. The $5,000 purse will be paid out to the top 10 overall finishers. The entry fee at each match will be $100. Each competitor will also be awarded points based on their finishing position. Each position will be awarded 5 points with the next highest position receiving 5 additional points. For example, if we have 100 competitors then 1st place will receive 500 points, 2nd 495 points, 3rd 490 points, etc… The winner of each individual target will receive 5 additional points. The overall point leader at the end of the Lapua Series season will receive a check for $5,000.

Lapua Signs on as Series Title Sponsor
The PSL is proud to announce that Lapua has agreed to be the title sponsor for the inaugural Lapua Series in 2009. Lapua once again shows that they are dedicated to furthering shooting sports in America. Lapua's new X-Act is sure to be a force in the upcoming season.
Joe Friedrich has agreed to pay $150 to any 2500 target. Moreover, Shadetree Engineering and Charlie Peters have added $100 each to the first 2500. The prize money will be evenly split if more than one person shoots a 2500 in a single match. If no one shoots a 2500 in the first match, the price will increase $50 each match until someone wins. Don Stith Agrees to Contingency Fees
Don Stith has agreed to pay $50 to anyone that wins a target while using a Stith Stock with a Stith label. That will bring the payout to a target winner up to $150 contingent upon the competitor using a Stith stock. Thank you Don for your support.
Craig Young Wins 1st Ever PSL Match
102 shooters made the trip to the Rocky River Barn in Norwood, Nc for the first ever PSL match in the Lapua series. The Barn is a great place to shoot, but it is not as easy as it looks. Jeff Braun was a wonderful host. He provided not only great facilities, but great food as well. Craig Young came out on top with an aggregate of 2260 and 12.2 X's. Wendell Dean was a close 2nd with an aggregate of 2260 and 10X's. Mike Sherrill was 3rd with an aggregate of 2255 and 12 X's. A total of $7450 was paid out to the top finishers. Lapua & Pappas Pledge More Money
Lapua and James Pappas continue to support the sport of .22lr bench rest shooting in new and exciting ways. Lapua has agreed to pay any match winner $500 and any individual target winner $75 that is using Lapua X-Act, Midas +, or Center-X. If no one wins a match with Lapua, the prize will increase $500 each match until someone does win. James Pappas will pay $200 to any match winner and $50 to any individual target winner that is using a J&J slide. Thank you Lapua, Charlie Scott, and James Pappas!!!
